Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word or OpenOffice file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines (https://jmic.online/information).
- A separate document (titled 'Reviewers') is included in addition to the manuscript submission, that identifies four (4) potential/tentative reviewers (names, affiliations, contact information).
- The authors acknowledge that a publication fee or Article Processing Charge (APC) will apply to accepted articles after peer-review, as outlined on the Information for Authors (https://jmic.online/information/#publication-fees) page. No charge will be applied to declined manuscripts.
Full Length Article
Articles should be between 5,000-10,000 words in length. In special cases, please ask the editor.
Short Communication
A short communication article is a brief report to report to readers before completion of the full paper and is typically <5,000 words in length.
Survey Record
A survey record is an essays concerning island survey, survey data, photo materials, etc. and is typically <5,000 words in length.
Book Review
A book review concerns information on island and marine-related books and publications, and is typically <1,000 words in length.
Copyright Notice
For open access publishing, this journal uses an exclusive licensing agreement. Authors will transfer copyright to Institution for Marine and Island Cultures, Mokpo National University, but will have the right to share their article in the same way permitted to third parties under the relevant user license, as well as certain scholarly usage rights.
